The Department of Basic Science (Institute of Interdisciplinary Research) consists of multiple disciplines such as Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Electronics, Mechanical Design and Engineering. It is responsible for organising courses and practical tasks in these fields for both undergraduates and postgraduates students. It also has developed a series of projects which involve cross-disciplinary research amongst various sciences. In addition, the Department offers Master and Doctoral programs in Calculus, Applied Mathematics, Operational Research & Cybernetics, Probability Theory & Mathematical Statistics, Mathematical Finance, Computational Physics, Optics, Computer Applied Technology and Mechanical Design & Theory. Furthermore, the Department places a great emphasis on training cross-disciplinary skills for post-graduate students.
