Delegation from School of Biological Sciences, University of Edinburgh visited Panjin Campus

In the afternoon of April 20th , a delegation from the School of Biological Sciences, University of Edinburgh visited DUT Panjin Campus. The delegates were Peter Doerner, Director of Internationalisation and Holly Robertston-Dick , Industrial Liasion and Placements Coordinator.

   

 

Professor Lu Zhongchang, the Vice President of DUT and the Director of the Administrative Committee of Panjin Campus, met with the UoE delegation in the VIP reception room G01-301. Accompanied by the Vice-director of the Administrative Committee of Panjin Campus and Dean of the School of Petroleum and Chemical Engineering, Prof. He Gaohong, Dean of School of Life and Medical Sciences (SLMS), Prof. Zhang Jianing, the Deputy Secretary of Department of Research Affairs, Prof. Zhang Xiujuan, and staff from International Office. During the meeting, Prof. Lu expressed his sincere welcome to the delegation and introduced the current status of Panjin Campus as well as future draft strategy. Also he hoped the visit would start the collaboration between the School of Biology Sciences and School of Life and Medical Sciences of two universities. Besides, Prof. He and Prof. Zhang also introduced the programs that campus had already operated. Both sides hoped this visit would be a good start for future collaboration.  

 

 

Afterwards, a conference was hosted by Prof. Zhang Jianing in the conference room N208 . The attendees were UoE delegates, teachers and staff of SLMS and staff from international office. At the first, both sides gave an explicit introduction of each school. Next, the discussion was focus mainly on co-cultivation models relating to majors of bioinformatics, biological science and pharmacy.

 

In the same evening, Ms. Holly gave an “information evening” about the School of Biological Science, UoE and about the cooperative programs that are offered for the international students. And then, Dr. Doener gave an introductory course, the topic was “The Challenges for Plant Science faces to enhance food  security in the next 30 years. After the lecture, Ms. Holly and Dr. Doener answered the questions raised by students.
