On March 12th 2016, 30 students of Panjin campus came to Taiwan University to have a week visit and exchange led by teacher Zhang Xiujuan—the vice director of Division of Research Affairs and teacher Pan Yu—the teacher of the School of petroleum and chemical engineering.
When we walked into the university, we were attracted by the beautiful views. Lovely azaleas were blooming all over the university. Meanwhile, we felt the sense of history by the old architecture, soon we fell in love with the school . When we looked around, there is not only beautiful but also very clean. Besides, we were curious about why there was few garbage can. A teacher explained to us : that’s to reduce students littering and garbage should be sent to a designate place so as to protect environment.
During the exchange, teachers arranged various courses for us. The theory courses were taught by famous professors, involving chemical, marine, environmental protection etc. These courses expanded our horizons and let us know more about the advanced science. Besides, there were also courses for visiting, including visiting the Second Taipei Nuclear Power Plant, Neihu Refuse Destructor Plant and the Taipei Palace Museum etc. On the one hand , we knew more about science and culture in Taiwan . On the other hand, we deeply realized the importance of environmental protection.
For this experience, though we were in a unfamiliar city , we didn’t feel any barriers . Firstly, because we didn’t have many differences in culture. Secondly the local people were friendly to us and they were willing to help us. Lastly , the school arranged a lot of volunteers for us everyday, and they were all patient to solve our problems. Thanks to all above, it made us have a nice trip in Taiwan. Our exchange was so short but everyone gained much from it . We hope more freshmen can benefit from it.
