【Introductory Course】Shale Oil Gas Development and Petrochemical Industry

On Dec.12, invited by the School of Petroleum and Chemical Engineering, Prof. Li Duzhong, the vice president of the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, the tenured professor of the School of Chemical Engineering of Taiwan University and the member of Panjin campus’ Academic Advisory Committee, gave an introductory course named Shale Oil Gas Development and Petrochemical Industry. It was hosted by Prof. Tan Zhenquan.

Prof. Li first introduced the current petrochemical industry in Taiwan. Then he explained the differences between the shale gas and the traditional oil field, the mining technology of the shale gas, and the shale gas reserves and distribution of China. He also explained the great importance of the shale gas technology for the world energy industry and petrochemical industry. At last, he introduced some cases about the high-value petrochemical products, such as BASF and Idemitsu etc.说明: http://panjin.

In the question-and-answer session, Prof. Li answered about the contradictory issues that people constantly consume the non-renewable petroleum resources. He said, petroleum industry was the lifeblood of the economy, along with the continuous renewal of production technology and the further implement of national construction of economical society, the exploitation of oil resources were constantly changing the industrial production and people's daily life; global oil resources would last for quite a long time as the pillar of the industrial production resources. Prof, Li encourage the students to bear the historical responsibility, study science knowledge and skills diligently, and make contribution to the energy industry for our society.
