Uwe Schneider
The University of Edinburgh
EaStCHEM School of Chemistry
Uwe Schneider was born in Wurzburg, Germany, and studied Chemistry in Germany and France. He received a PhD degree at IRCOF, France, with Professors Jean-Charles Quirion and Xavier Pannecoucke, before moving to the University of Tokyo, Japan, for postdoctoral research with Professors Shu Kobayashi. He was an Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo, before taking up a Lecturer position at the University of Edinburgh, UK. His research interests are focused on the development of sustainable organic synthesis including: exploitation of main group metals and nonmetals in their unusual low-oxidation/valence states for Lewis base, Lewis acid, dual, ambiphilic, frustrated Lewis pair (FLP), and/or redox catalysis; asymmetric catalysis; transition metal-free C-H bond activation using metal-base catalysis; catalytic strong-bond activation in small molecules.
Welcome to attend, especially the students from the School of Petroleum and Chemical Engineering.
