Delegation from University of Manchester Visited Panjin Campus

     In order to further promote friendly exchange and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation between Dalian University of Technology, Panjin Campus and University of Manchester, the delegation from the University of Manchester revisited Panjin Campus on November 29th and 30th. The delegation members were Prof. Christopher Hardacre, Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science, University of Manchester, UK, Kevin Taylor, Dean of the School of Earth, Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences, and Sun Li, from the School of Chemical Engineering.

On the afternoon of the Nov.29th, Prof. Zhongchang Lu, Vice-president of DUT and the Director of the Administrative Committee of Panjin Campus, met with the visiting guests at 104 VIP reception room of Administrative Service Building G01 accompanied by the Vice-director of the Administrative Committee of Panjin Campus and the Dean of the School of Petroleum and Chemical Engineering, Prof. Gaohong He, the Vice-dean of the School of Food and Environment, Prof. Lifen Liu and the  relevant personnel from the International Office. Prof. Lu expressed his sincere welcome to the delegation and briefly introduced the development of Panjin Campus. The two sides unanimously affirmed the cooperation achievements of the past two years and quickly reached the intention to broaden cooperation areas and establish new cooperation projects. Both sides agreed to add the “3 + 1”, “3 + 1 + 1” co-cultivation mode based on the original “2 + 2” joint training program on chemical engineering, applied chemistry and environmental science. They also discussed about the summer school program, and other new model of cooperation.

 

At the meeting, Prof. Lifen Liu and Prof. Kevin signed the “2 + 2” and “3 + 1 + 1” jointly educational agreement on behalf of the two environmental academies respectively.

Prof. Christopher and Prof. Kevin gave four introductory lectures for undergraduates and graduates of the School of Petroleum and Chemical Engineering and the School of Food and Environment. Moreover, they held academic exchange and discussion with the faculty and students.

       During the visit, the guests visited the Analysis and Testing Center and the laboratories of the School of Food and Environment for a detailed understanding of the campus’ teaching, research environment and facilities, and gave a high evaluation.
