On Sep.22th, Professor Xu Ming, from the School of Natural Resources and Environment of University of Michigan, was invited to give academic reports to the teachers and students from the School of Food and Environment and School of Business. The topics were “Industrial Ecology: from Product to Trade” and “Academic Writing and Publishing”.
In his report of “Industrial Ecology: from Product to Trade”, Professor Xu highlighted the environmental impact assessment of the application lifecycle assessment for new products and technologies by comparing and analyzing examples, introduced the relations between social metabolism researched by logistic analysis and the city, country, even the whole natural world, as well as the input-output analysis method for environmental tracks. His report explained the research progress and importance of Industrial Ecology. Also it provided examples for the study of relations between raw material, product, environment load and their impact, as well as the environmental track transformation caused by commodity trade and logistic flow.
In his report of “Academic Writing and Publishing”, Professor Xu shared his experience and skills of writing academic papers. He introduced how to present great ideas and thoughts in a better way. All the attendees learned a lot from it.
During his reports, teachers and students of Panjin Campus discussed lots of meaningful issues with Prof. Xu.
