During September 27th and 28th, the delegation of University College Cork led by Paul Giller who is the former Vice President of UCC and Professor emeritus of Ecology and Zoology visited Panjin Campus, including Professor Sarah Culloty, Head of School of Biological Earth and Environmental Sciences, Professor Andrew James, Head of Geology, Professor Astrid Wingler, Head of Plant Science, and Dr. Haibo Huang, Head of Shanghai Office. The visit effectively promoted the academic exchanges between the two universities, reached certain intention of scientific research cooperation, and the friendly relationship between the two sides has made new achievements.

 

Prof. Zhongchang Lu, Vice President of Dalian University of Technology and the Director of Panjin Campus, Prof. Gaohong He, Vice Director of Panjin Campus, and the representatives from Schools met with the delegation. They extended the warm welcome to the delegation’s visit, reviewed and confirmed the cooperative achievements in multiple fields and forms in just one and a half years, and further discussed about the teachers cooperation in the next stage. Invited by Prof. Lu, the delegation attended the opening ceremony of the IV Sport Meeting and spoke highly of it.

 

Prof. Paul Giller, Prof. Sarah Culloty and Dr.Haibo Huang gave a presentation about UCC and the educational cooperation programs to the students.

 

Prof.Paul Giller was invited to give an introductory course named “The Biodiversity crisis - Do species matter？”to the teachers and students majored in the eco-environmental engineering.

 

Prof. Andrew Wheeler gave an academic report named “Using advanced technologies for deep sea exploration”to the School of Marine Science and Technology.

 

Prof. Astrid and Prof. Sarah were invited to attend the seminar held by the School of Food and Environment and gave reports to the young teachers and graduates.
